Mandi Runs: Now restricted to H2O

Yep. You read that right.
Mandi with an "i" is restricted to underwater activities.

Stress Fracture in my hip.
#stupidhip

I am guessing it is from some sort of overuse while running...
form problems maybe?!
#healstrikermandi

So now I stare at pictures of my beautiful bike while I am at work and when I am home...
well I stare at her some more.

SO NOW I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU STARE AT HER!

Ahhh it's not THAT bad.
4 weeks off from cycling.
6 weeks off from running.
11 weeks until Barb's 70.3
ugh.

I got the OFFICIAL bad news Thursday afternoon.
My Chollas made sure I wasn't to cry alone...
I love my friends.
Suebug cooked for me and Erin made sure my glass wasn't empty!

BUT the good news...
I'm becoming a swimmer!

A swimmer with a shopping problem...

New Headbands...

 New swimsuit #totallyneed
New goggles #totallyneed
New fins... #totallyneed

I know that it's not the end of the world but it does EFFIN SUCK.

Thankfully I can swim for now
and I can get back on Rosalita in 4 weeks!

If healing goes well I am hopeful that I will still be able to complete Barb's Race.
#crossyourfingerssayyourprayers
=D

Thanks for reading my rant friends....
MORE SWIMMING POSTS COMING SOON!

Rocky Point Triathlon 2013

 Swim. Bike. Run. PARTY.
Rocky Point Triathlon at Las Palomas, Mexico

The Resort...

 Happy Mandi.

This is probably a race I would not have ever signed up for if it hadn't been for TRIBE doing the bike support... Mexico is a place that I usually don't want to go to...
BUT THIS PLACE ROCKS.
It is beautiful... and the race was AWESOME!

It is a Saturday race so we left Friday morning and got down just in time to eat and set up the bike "tune up" shop for all the participants.

Tim our TRIBE mechanic started in the beautiful day light...

And ended in the dark... he may have been having a good time.
#itshardtotell
Don't worry folks... I didn't touch anyone's bikes!

Packet pick up was crazy... almost 600 participants!
And everyone was excited to PARTY!

Julie distracting Katie at the packet pick up

 THE RACE.
SO. I have something to tell you...
I haven't been running.
I am on the "no running cause it hurts list"
Don't worry... I am getting it fixed.
I shall run again! =D

SO for this race thankfully I had a friend help me out with the run!
BUT anyways...  back to
THE RACE.
Wait. I have something else to share!
Thursday night I picked up this beauty at TRIBE MULTISPORT
Meet Rosalita

Yep. My very own Cervelo P2!
I LOVE HER.

Don't worry, before I packed her up to go to Mexico I rode her Friday morning...

BUT FOR REAL THIS TIME...  back to
THE RACE.

I set up in transition... with #mynewbike #Rosalita
I had to give her a Spanish name since her first time really being ridden was in Mexico!

Waiting for the start... Trying to get Katie to rub off on me :)
She is a super awesome person and athlete!
She won the race! Congrats to you!!
And thankfully kept she didn't tell me about the sting rays she saw in the water the day before! =D
#likeisaidanawesomeperson

THE SWIM
 1000 meters - Official time 23:41 (6th place ag)
Garmin time 19:52 -- OKAY. SO... we had to run to the water.
NOT fun when you are hurt. My hip has been bad so I knew I was at a huge disadvantage but this race had already turned into kill swim/bike don't worry about the run.

I didn't start my Garmin until I was in the water and stopped it coming out so I could know my real time. AND I am proud!
1:59/100m pace in the OCEAN! YAY!!

Also... I have to mention my transition FASTEST one in my AG by over 30 seconds!
Swim to bike 1:11!

THE BIKE
26 miles - Official time 1:20.19 (4th place ag)
Average speed: 19.4 mph
I love Rosalita.
She is not only beautiful but she helps me be speedy!
I don't believe I have EVER averaged 19.4 mph.
TT BIKES RULE!

My legs felt great and I could have "ran" after if I was able.
The wind out there started really picking up after the first lap but it was only SUPER bad in a couple spots so you got a few breaks from the wind!

On my final lap there was a bit of a traffic jam, literal traffic, that caused me to have to unclip and navigate around a bunch of traffic that had entered the round-a-about on the course... but thankfully it was just one lap and a SMALL section!

I love this bike.

Say hola to Mandi y Rosalita!

THE RUN - 10k
MY HERO HOLLY!
She saved my day and my hip!

Look at that girl RUN!
She did awesome and I am in debt to her!

 GO TEAM MANDI y HOLLY!!

The stats! =D

THE PARTY
Remember I said, swim/bike/run/party!
Seriously.

Best after party ever!

Drinkos y Foodos y Drinkos!

And I am now a TRIATHLETE.
I got the tramp stamp to prove it.

Leadman Tri 125 Tempe 2013 - Jobing.com / Tribe Multisport Relay

So a couple weeks ago my cycling team Jobing.com/Tribe sent out an invite for a relay team for Leadman Tempe... They had a runner & a cyclist... swimmer wanted.
I do not call myself a swimmer.
I am a swimmer in training though.
SO I threw it out there I would do it if they couldn't find a real swimmer.

Which of course means I SIGNED UP! hahaha
2.5k swimabout 2500 meters... hmmmm, I do that every Monday, let's do this!

I predicted I would finish around 50min give or take.
As long as the wetsuit and Tempe Town Lake didn't freak me out!
=D

SO last weekend I rented my wetsuit and tried it out at Bartlett Lake with a couple friends
It went well and I was "ready" as I could be!

Sunday morning we were ready to rock it!!
swimmer/runner/cyclist
Mandi/Amy/Laura
BEFORE
Waiting in transition with my Chollas Amy & Erin...
ERIN did the full 125k Leadman by herself! #studrockstaramazingfriend

Erin and I ready to SWIM!

I don't look nervous do I?

Silliness makes the nerves go away!

THE SWIM
54:15 - 2:10 pace
So, if you are not from Phoenix you might not know about the Tempe Town Lake plague  My friends had me scared about swimming in this super unnatural "lake." Everyone gets sick after swimming in it.
LIES.
I am calling BS.
The water wasn't GROSS... I am still alive and not sick two days later...

So the day before I volunteered at the USATCN13
SO thankful. It got me ready to jump in.

Sunday morning I wasn't SCARED!
Just a little nervous, normal pre-race nerves =D

Once I was in the water I felt pretty darn good.
I told myself to swim til the turn around point then see what I have left and push it.
That plan worked out nicely. I never felt panicky or anything... which was SO NICE.

I told myself to not look at my watch too cause I didn't need that pressure.
All and all it was a good swim. AND GREAT practice...
I am totally going to kill Barb's Race in July!

#ificanlearntoswimstraight

Once I was out of the water... I passed the timing chip to our awesome cyclist Laura!

LAURA KILLED IT!
68 miles in 3:13!!

The our amazing runner Amy went out and fought with the heat!
She finished in 1:27

with a total time of 5:38.29
Great job team Jobing.com/Tribe

So being the swimmer I was pretty energetic and rested by the time everyone doing the full event was done so I continued my theme of photo bombing from the previous day!

Thanks for working hard out on the course Heidi!

The Jones & I!
Finally met them IRL!

THIS was the highlight of the day.
ERIN finishing her first #almostkindalikehalfironmandistance
LOVE my baby gurl.

Poor Erin... I made her walk up a hill to take this picture...
whatever she just did Leadman 125!

These are my Cholla Chicks!
I love them, they make events SO MUCH FUN.

Keep on TRIing ladies & gents!

So much fun! Relays are nice when you are the first one up...
see my SOMA recap for the ugly running part of a relay team!

Love that my super awesome cycling team Jobing.com/Tribe ALWAYS does these relays! Such a fun way to be a part of the longer events without doing all the training!
